Curator Ryan Snyder

Ryan was raised in a funeral home, and consequently takes everything too seriously. Especially food. He doesn’t shy away from smoking 25 pounds of pork belly, nor from undertaking an intense year of “study” sessions to become a certified sommelier. He writes about charcuterie on Meat Club, and hosts recipes with his venture Foodgeeks.

While you’re in Portland, don’t be surprised if you happen upon a kilted man playing a bagpipe while riding a unicycle. That's the same kind of whacked out passion you’ll find in the food culture here. Hell yeah they have chefs with meat grinders tattooed on their forearms. Damn straight if you enter a pig from Iowa into a local food competition you need to be prepared for a brawl. Portlandians are fiercely resolute in their food endeavors.
